The new 2021 Skoda Octavia will see a market launch next month. Zac Hollis, Brand Director – Sales, Service and Marketing, Skoda Auto India, made the announcement via Twitter today. The market launch of the Octavia was earlier planned to take place sometime in May 2021 but was put on hold due to COVID-19 related lockdown-like protocols in many states of India.
Built on the updated MQB platform, the new executive sedan is larger than the outgoing model and will be offered with a single petrol powerplant – a 190hp, 2.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine. A 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox will be offered as standard. Unlike its predecessor, there will be no diesel engine option.
The only rival to the new Octavia in India will be the Hyundai Elantra sedan. The Honda Civic which was also a contender in this segment has been discontinued.
